The story

the story

Started from scratch, built to grow.

The trade was learned from Daniels' "Watchmaking", from the classic treatises on escapements and trains, and at the lathe, where a part is repeated until it matches the drawing. That beginning set the standard. Today the founder is building something larger: a workshop that develops movements, makes components and services fine watches, with room for people to grow with it.

The name is the place: Klausen, from Klausenburg, the old German name of Cluj-Napoca. In 1373, the masters Martin and George signed the bronze Saint George of Prague Castle "de Clussenberch": of Klausenburg. They put their city's name on their finest work. This workshop does the same.

What we claim is inspectable: the bevel under the loupe, the measured prototype, the service record with photographs, the warranty in writing. Behind them stands no certificate, only the work. Come and see it up close.

the goal

The first watch movement developed and made entirely in Romania.

Romania has assembled watches before: the state factory on Chinese and Soviet calibres, and lately new brands on Swiss ones. The movement, though, has always been bought in, never developed and made here. Every component order, every service, every finished bevel is a step toward changing that.

The workshop is set up in Cluj-Napoca: space, tooling and the bench, in place and running.
R&D on the workshop's first proprietary movement is underway.
